2018 Basic Massachusetts Estate Planning: The Nuts and Bolts
(rev. March 2018)
After forty years as an estate planning attorney in Massachusetts, I created this 51-page booklet as a substitute for the traditional introductory meeting with an attorney -- a meeting that could cost you hundreds of dollars. Even a basic estate plan should provide for the orderly disposition of your assets, name guardians for your minor children if their parents are deceased, provide for situations where you are unable to make or communicate decisions, protect major assets from the claims of certain creditors, and make your estate administration less complicated and expensive.
In this booklet, I try to explain what you need, what you may not need, and what you can do for yourself. If you then meet with a lawyer, you’ll know how to use the meeting efficiently and productively. Time is money.
